ORGANIZATIONAL PLAINTIFF
Stephen Lieberman
United Spinal Association Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy Stephen Lieberman oversees United Spinal’s Advocacy Program, including Chapter and State Advocacy Coordinators and the Grassroots Advocacy Network. Steve is especially proud of how much the Grassroots Advocacy Network has grown, as United Spinal now has 2,600 registered advocates in all but one of our nation’s 435 Congressional districts.
Steve also develops United Spinal’s advocacy-related programming, including Advocacy Live, working groups, Roll on Capitol Hill, and Virtual Advocacy Day. Additionally, he serves as a co-chair of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities Rights Task Force.
Before joining United Spinal, he spent ten years as a staffer for a U.S. Senator. As one of the few openly disabled Congressional staffers during his service on Capitol Hill, Steve developed an understanding of the most effective methods for influencing members of Congress and the dire need for improvement in Congressional understanding of the disability experience. Steve lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife and two children.
